TGIF: 7/6/12 Edition

This Week's Question:
Comfort Reads: Which books do you go to for comfort & familiarity? Is there a type of book you seek out when you're needing that extra bit of comfort in your life?

The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen
is most definitely the first book that comes to mind. It's my all-time favorite YA, and there's a reason I've read it 13 times and counting. If I'm in the mood for comfort, there's an extremely good chance I'm going to re-read, if only because I know I love the book and that it'll suit my mood. Series picks are Harry Potter or the Love Comes Softly books. I also really like reading romances that are happier, with a little less angst than I usually prefer, but still plenty of emotion. I often go for contemporary romance. Kristan Higgins writes a great comfort read, as does Meg Cabot. Because I trust them, I tend to default to favorite authors, especially if I'm taking a chance on a book I haven't read. Authors like Julia Quinn, Lisa Kleypas, Eloisa James, Jill Shalvis, and Sarah Mayberry have a great chance of being picked up when I'm in the need for comfort. I've only recently discovered her, but I feel like Shannon Stacey would be a fantastic comfort read pick, too.
