❝Comfort Reads: Which books do you go to for comfort & familiarity? Is there a type of book you seek out when you're needing that extra bit of comfort in your life?❞ |

The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen is most definitely the first book that comes to mind. It's my all-time favorite YA, and there's a reason I've read it 13 times and counting. If I'm in the mood for comfort, there's an extremely good chance I'm going to re-read, if only because I know I love the book and that it'll suit my mood. Series picks are Harry Potter or the Love Comes Softly books. I also really like reading romances that are happier, with a little less angst than I usually prefer, but still plenty of emotion. I often go for contemporary romance. Kristan Higgins writes a great comfort read, as does Meg Cabot. Because I trust them, I tend to default to favorite authors, especially if I'm taking a chance on a book I haven't read. Authors like Julia Quinn, Lisa Kleypas, Eloisa James, Jill Shalvis, and Sarah Mayberry have a great chance of being picked up when I'm in the need for comfort. I've only recently discovered her, but I feel like Shannon Stacey would be a fantastic comfort read pick, too.
