Second Chance Saturday: August 2012 Edition

Second Chance Saturday
Second Chance Saturday is a Fictionally Inclined feature wherein I pick, read, and review a book each month that I have previously written off for some reason or another.

This Month's Featured Book: Grave Mercy by Robin (R.L.) LaFevers
This Book Was a Second Chance Because... I had previously gotten the egalley from NetGalley back when it was available to anyone without having to request it, but I ran out of time before I got around to reading it. Then I got it from the library and had decided not to read it...until I read a review at Pure Imagination. Then I decided - with only 3 days left until it was due, and I don't DO overdue books - that I positively HAD to read it. And I did. In a day.
Verdict: Worth the second chance. Although the romance fell a little short of the expectations everyone's ravings had set up in my head, I did enjoy the book. It was a thoroughly intriguing, compelling story, although obviously rather dark. I'll be reading the second in the series when it comes out.
Purchase: Amazon || Barnes & Noble || The Book Depository

  2. It's definitely very original!  And for as long as it is, it reads super quickly.

Psst! I now reside over at The Book Barbies. I'd still love to hear your thoughts, though!
