Follow Friday: 4/6/2012 Edition

Q: Have you ever bought a book BECAUSE of a bad review?

Nope. I have, however, borrowed one from the library because of it. I read the review of the hilariously bad The Playboy Sheikh's Virgin Stable-Girl at Smart Bitches, Trashy Books and laughed until my ribs ached and I was almost falling out my chair. I placed a hold on it immediately and read it a few days later. I really didn't read the book to prove a "negative" review wrong or anything; I read it purely for entertainment value. It did not disappoint.

  1. Hi I'm a new follower via GFC! Here's my fff:
    Have a lovely weekend! Thanks!

  2. I've been really pleased with books that got bad reviews before too. I think sometimes reviewers get hung up over some little thing and can't see the rest of the book's merits. For example: side-crackingly funny, but not going to be taught in high school anytime soon.

    New follower!

    Here's my Follow Friday.

  3. I usually get the iffy ones from the library too. I hate wasting money on books that I'll probably never read again.

    My FF.

    1. Honestly, I get a good 98% of my books from the library. Unfortunately, I just don't have the money to support the amount of books I read, LOL. I usually only buy books from authors I already know I love or have heard really great things about.

  4. That title alone would make me want to read it, haha. I wish they had more ebooks at libraries! Our selection is pretty limited here. Following!

Check out my ebook giveaway if ya get a chance too!

  7. Guilty pleasures? (And I think getting something from the library totally counts.)

Following from FF - sorry it's taken me a while to get round to you! It's my first week joining in, I hope you might have time to visit my FF post.

Psst! I now reside over at The Book Barbies. I'd still love to hear your thoughts, though!
